The South New Georgia Rendova & Tetepare (SNGRT) Constituency in Western province continues to see progress under the leadership of newly elected Member of Parliament, David Lani Gina.
With just ten months into his tenure, a third shipment of essential materials has arrived, bringing renewed confidence and optimism among the people of Roviana Lagoon and Rendova Island.
The third shipment was transported by the bulk carrier vessel MV LC Ocean Mary which arrived at the Munda Substation on mainland New Georgia last week Wednesday.
The vessel berthed at the Lambete waterfront landing slab, drawing the attention of market-goers and locals gathered along the seafront.
According to initial reports the ship, carrying a deck full of essential supplies, unloaded approximately 200 light grey 1000L and 1500L molded water tanks labeled “.South New Georgia Rendova & Tetepare Constituency.”
The unloading process was carefully supervised by Munda-based CDO Agent and Overseer, Kaibala Gina, who ensured all items were accounted for before transporting them to the constituency storage yard at Gina’s Tolavaena compound, opposite the Munda market.
According to Kaibala Gina, more shipments of hardware materials, outboard motors (OBMs), and ray boats are expected from Honiara as soon as bulk carrier vessels become available.
‘’The arrival of these materials marks a shift in how Government resources are distributed. The new approach ensures that vital supplies reach Munda directly, eliminating the need for rural residents to travel to Honiara—a costly and often frustrating process,’’ Munda-based CDO Agent told Solomon Star in an interview yesterday.
‘’Previously, access to Rural Constituency Development Funds (RCDF) was often monopolized by select individuals, leaving many community members without support. Under Gina’s leadership, this process is being restructured to ensure fairness and transparency,’’ he adds.
Former MP for West New Georgia, Silas Vangara, praised the initiative as well saying it is clear they have a new MP who really means business from day one and so his is how things should be done.
MP Gina has reiterated his commitment to ensuring development reaches all communities.
He said during his recent constituency tour that there’s a lot of money enough to help develop them and progress their poor old constituency.
‘’This is our time make a change, raise up the standard of living and turn this opportunities to something that has tangible impacts that our people can benefit from it,’’ Gina added.
As further shipments arrive, residents are urged to remain patient and support the fair distribution process.
The constituency’s new formal criteria and procedures aim to ensure that material assistance benefits all sectors, including community groups, churches, schools, clinics, women’s and youth organizations, sports clubs, businesses, and families.
With continued leadership and strategic planning, the people of SNGRT Constituency look forward to sustained development and a brighter future.
