A welcome dinner for the contestants of the 2025 Miss Pacific Islands Pageant (MPIP) was organised by the Government through the Ministry of Culture and Tourism on Monday night.
Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Choylin Yim Douglas hosted the pageants and their supporting delegates at the Solomon Kitano Mendana Hotel.
Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele was also a guest at the event.
Minister Douglas said she was very honoured to welcome the queens and their esteemed delegates.
“The Solomon Islands Government, through my ministry, is pleased to bring you all this evening so that you have the opportunity to meet, mingle and interact with each other and especially with our beautiful young ladies, while enjoying our meal,” Minister Douglas said.
He said the MPIP is one of the prestigious events in the region that celebrates the beauty, intelligence and cultural pride of Pacific women and that Solomon Islands is ‘truly’ honoured to host such a magnificent gathering.

“As the Minister for Culture and Tourism, I am proud to see our nation play a role in strengthening regional ties through such meaningful and inspiring event.
“This event also provides an opportunity for us to highlight Solomon Islands beauty, cultural heritage and hospitality to our visiting guests.
“To our lovely contestants and your delegations, who have travelled from across the Pacific, I say tagio tumas and welcome to Solomon Islands!”
She said, the contestants came from diverse backgrounds, each carrying the unique traditions and vibrant cultures of their Island country.
“And we are excited to witness the remarkable talents you will bring to this competition,” Minister Douglas said.
She acknowledged the presence of the Prime Minister, which she said signifies the value placed on empowering young women and celebrating a shared Pacific identity.
“Thank you, Prime Minister for your support,” Minister Douglas said.

Minister Douglas said as one of the young female leaders in the political sphere of Solomon Islands, she stands before the Miss Pacific Islands Crown contestants with great pride, knowing that this event provides a platform for all young women to embrace leadership, confidence and cultural pride.
“I encourage you to embrace this experience, not just as competition, but as a journey of self-discovering, empowerment and growth.
“The qualities that you develop here are the same qualities that will serve you well in any leadership role you pursue in the future,” she added.
Minister Douglas acknowledged the tireless efforts of the local organising committee, the sponsors and all those who have contributed to bringing this pageant to reality.
“Thank you for your dedication and commitment towards the success of this event,” she said.
The event will conclude this weekend.
