Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) in Auki have uprooted and destroyed about two thousand plus marijuana plants from seven different gardens at the Kainafala River in West Kwaio recently.
Assistant Commissioner (AC) National Capital and Crime Prevention (NCCP) Simpson Pogeava told reporters that these plantations are the main sources that distribute to other parts of Malaita province.
Communities around the area really acknowledged police for the well-done job in destroying these plants, said AC Pogeava.
Mr. Pogeava reminds individuals of the negative impacts the substance has caused in the communities and strongly warns those who cultivate it to stop.
He acknowledged the effort and support of the community leaders in assisting and continuing to work closely with the police to curb such crimes in our communities.
“I am urging good people in and around the raided location to report the whereabouts of the individuals who own the marijuana plants, as these individuals have been escaping police upon police arrival at the scene,” said AC Pogeava.
