Traffic in East Honiara is poised to resume to normal as the road section from Solo Gas to the Ranadi Roundabout has been partially reopened.
This follows the successful completion of the reinstatement works of the Solomon Water Sewer Line Installation Project.
The only remaining section of the road, from Maromaro Betelnut Market to the SINU Kukum entrance stretch, is still undergoing final reinstatement and is expected to be fully completed and handed over by the end of March 2025.
A local contractor EMCO Pacific has been engaged for the reinstatement works, ensuring a prompt and efficient restoration of the traffic route.
This important sewer project, executed by McConnell Dowell Construction, is funded by the Solomon Islands Government as part of the Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Sector Project (UWSSP).
It is a crucial investment in improving sewage disposal, wastewater management, and advancing overall public health standards in Honiara.
“We understand the frustration caused by the extended delays associated with this project.
“We sincerely appreciate the patience and understanding of business owners and residents during the construction phase since the past months,” the statement.
With the completion of this road section, it will be handed back to the Ministry of Infrastructure Development (MID) for ongoing maintenance, ensuring traffic flow and safety for road users.
