SOLOMON Islands National Women’s team suffered three straight defeats in the PacificAus Sport Four Nations Tournament 2025 in Australia.
Their three straight defeats left them at the bottom of the table with zero points. They conceded a total of 21 goals after suffering an 8-0 defeat to Thailand U20 in their opener last Wednesday, a 12-0 defeat to hosts Young Matildas in their second match last Saturday and a narrow 1-0 defeat to Vanuatu on Tuesday.
The two heavy defeat results of the Solomon Islands National Team’s respective match from their matches with the Thailand U20 and Young Matildas showed the level of professionalism by their two opponents, which left them struggle to maintain their defensive formation.
Solomon Islands Assistant Coach Christal Bakolo said it was a really challenging tournament for her girls as some of them played their first international match against teams like the Young Matildas and Thailand U20.
Coach Bakolo said with the three straight heavy defeats they suffered in the tournament, there is a lot of room for improvement.
She admitted that it was a challenge to test their strength against an Asian outfit for the first time, but said she is positive that the opportunity the team had through this competition helped to build them for the OFC Women’s Nations Cup in July.
The hosts Young Matildas emerged as the champions in this tournament after three straights wins over Thailand U20, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu, which gave them 9 points to sit on top of the table.
Thailand U20 settled on the second place with 6 points after 2 wins and 1 defeat, Vanuatu settled on the third place with 3 points after 2 defeats and 1 win, whilst Solomon Islands finished at the bottom of the table with zero points after suffering three straight defeats.
