THE Malaita Outer Islands (MOI) Constituency has taken significant steps to support the education of its students by paying for their tuition this year.
Students studying at the Solomon Islands National University (SINU) and the University of the South Pacific (USP) have been supported.
The announcement was made during a meeting this week between MOI Parliament Member, Hon. Polycarp Paea, and the scholarship recipients.
The meeting served as an update on the payment of school fees.
According to a report shared on the MOI Constituency’s social media page, all fees for MOI students whether they are commencing or continuing their studies at SINU have been fully covered.
The total payment amounts to approximately SBD$200,000, funded by the Constituency Development Office (CDO).
MP Paea expressed his pride in meeting the 2025 MOI Constituency Scholarship recipients, both in-country and in Fiji, at the MOI Constituency Development Office.
He shared the positive news that the fees for all SINU students have been fully paid, a gesture that demonstrates the constituency’s continued commitment to supporting the education of its people.
The initiative was supported by most of MOI constituents.
“A big thank you to the MOI Constituency Development Office and the leadership of Hon. Polycarp Paea for this wonderful initiative.
“This is a great development for the constituency, and I congratulate all the scholarship recipients. I wish them the best of luck in their studies.” said Rodney Kesaka, a constituent of Malaita Outer Islands.
The report also noted that the MOI Constituency will settle the school fees for students attending USP and other schools both secondary and primary in the coming weeks, once the final list of recipients is approved by the CDC.
The Malaita Outer Islands Constituency remains committed to advancing education and human resource development in the region, emphasizing its dedication to investing in the future of its young people.
