SOLOMON Airlines has announced further cancellation to its services into Brisbane for Friday.
In a statement to update its passengers, Solomon Airline said, following Wednesday’s Cyclone Alfred Emergency Planning meeting, the service on Friday from Auckland- Brisbane-Munda- Honiara is now called off.
“We regret to inform that two additional flights on Friday, 7 March, have been cancelled due to expected extreme weather conditions.”
The affected routes are;
– IE725 Auckland – Brisbane
– IE715 Brisbane – Munda – Honiara
“We understand this may cause inconvenience, and our team is working hard to assist affected passengers.”
To help with re-accommodation, Solomon Airlines is seeking approval for a direct Auckland–Honiara service (IE4725) on Friday, which will connect with IE700 Honiara–Brisbane.

– IE700 Honiara (14:55) – Brisbane (17:10)
– IE724 Brisbane (18:25) – Auckland (00:30)
“We remain hopeful that Friday evening flights will proceed as planned, but this depends on the weather and conditions in Brisbane,” the statement said.
Re-accommodation Details:
– IE725 AKL-BNE passengers will be rebooked on IE4725 AKL-HIR, connecting to IE700 HIR-BNE
– IE715 BNE-MUA-HIR passengers will be accommodated on IE707 BNE-HIR on 9 March, with domestic connections available on 10 March.
Domestic passengers will be reaccommodated to nearest available flights.
Meanwhile, Brisbane Airport remains open until this afternoon.
“Operations will continue until the last scheduled airline service today (Thursday 6 March) expected to be around 5pm this afternoon,” the airport management said.
Travellers have been advised to should speak directly to their airlines and not travel to the airport for cancelled flights.
Brisbane Airport will continue to keep its terminals open while passengers and essential airport workers need shelter, for emergency and aeromedical services, for defence operations, and while it is safe to do so.
