Under stormy skies or scorching sun, they rise. The transmission, distribution, and technical teams of Solomon Power are the silent forces who keep electricity flowing across the islands.
On Thursday, they finally stepped into the spotlight.
In a powerful event held at the SINU Kukum Campus, Solomon Power celebrated Network Guardians Appreciation Day 2025, a tribute to the hardworking men and women who brave risk and danger to keep the nation connected.
Speaking to the Solomon Star Online, Mr. Gabriel Galokale a Health and Safety Officer for Solomon Power, expressed deep gratitude for these frontline workers.
“These teams are the backbone of our operations. During cyclones, blackouts, or any threat to our network-they’re the ones out there, risking everything to restore power,” said Galoka.

He emphasized the vital role his department plays in ensuring safety across all field operations.
“We make sure our teams are fully equipped helmets, gloves, boots, and full PPE because in this line of work, electricity is not friendly. Every day, these teams face real hazards. It’s our duty to protect them.”
The event wasn’t just about recognition it was also about education. Attendees witnessed live demonstrations showcasing how electricity is generated, transmitted, and finally delivered to homes.
The goal: to help the public understand the complex, dangerous journey electricity takes before it reaches their light switches.
Galokale also encouraged the public to report any faults or issues by calling Solomon Power’s emergency lines 166 or 177.

The celebration was led by Solomon Power’s CEO and other department heads. The day came to life with cultural dances, live demonstrations, and spirited team marches—highlighting the strength and unity within the organization.
