SAN Isidro centre in North West Guadalcanal have had a busy weekend hosting two important events starting on Saturday.
A Holy Baptism for infants and the Saint San Isidro Day was the centre of focus for the people in the area.
More than 600 people from within the Aruligo zone, North East Guadalcanal, Savo-Russel, and Honiara have attended the events.
During the Holy Baptism occasion, twenty-two infants were baptised by Auxiliary Bishop John Doaninoel of the Archdiocese of Honiara.
Catchiest Abraham Gegeni then highlighted the need for parents to look after their children and a special presentation of birth certificates was also presented.
“The certificates that were presented to the infants are for future references.
“This is because it is quite difficult for parents to get such documents when the children needed them in the future.
“So it is very important for you parents to treasure the importance of the certificates,” Catchiest Abraham highlighted.
Meanwhile, the Saint San Isidro Day on Sunday was opened with a Mass service orchestrated by Auxiliary Bishop John Doaninoel.
In a speech to mark the occasion, a Church representative Ezekiel Maeroa speaks a little about the history of the saint.
“San Isidro is a committed person in his line of duty.
“In his Christian faith, he loves his work and leads people with good examples in life with his simple approach.
“He is a man who lives with love, justice and shares his faith with his co-workers in his Ministry,” Mr Maeroa said.
In a final remarks, Auxiliary Bishop John thanked the representatives of churches like Seventh Day Adventist (SDA), South Seas Evangelical Church (SSEC), and Anglican for taking part in these events.
Bishop John said, this has shown how the people of Aruligo have worked together in supporting each other through their different denominations.
The events ended with feasting and entertainments from students at the San Isidro care centre and members of the Aruligo Catholic Church.
