WOMEN at Gilbert Camp area in east Honiara are calling on the youths to show respect towards their facilities along the road sides.
They said it has becoming a normal practice that some young people under the influence of alcohol when moving round disturbed them when they sold their markets and sometimes destroyed their small market stalls when they were away.
“This is a bad practice and we want to condemn this.
“During our days, we have learnt that youths always have respect towards anything that was owned by women,” a spokesperson said.
“want to see respect from young people towards our facilities.”
The spokesperson said that young people always using their side road stalls for drinking purposes and sometime abuse them too.
“We mothers always struggle and these the only place that we use to sell our betel nuts, foods and other things to get money for our families.”
They said that they want chiefs, parents, pastors and other community leaders to help campaign against such attitude that on the raise at the moment.
The women said that police too must work to back the chiefs to tract down this nonsense movement of the young people these days.
