PRIVATE tourism investors from Saudi Arabia will be coming to Honiara at the end of this year for a consultative meeting with the Solomon Islands National Provident Fund on the development of Solomon Islands first ever 5-Star Hotel.
Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele revealed this at a press conference on Thursday prior to his departure for Jakarta, Indonesia on Friday for the presidential and vice-presidential inauguration ceremony.
The inauguration was held on Sunday.
He said during his visit to Riyadh, he and his delegation met with investors who expressed their willingness to partner with SINPF to build the first 5-Star Hotel for Solomon Islands in Honiara.
PM Manele said the SINPF Chair had invited the investors to a consultative meeting in Honiara at the end of this year to further discuss the concept with the SINPF Board and important stakeholders of the statutory body.
The SINPF Chair is Dr Jimmie Rodgers, who is also the Secretary to the Prime Minister. He was part of the PM’s delegation on his back-to-back visit to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
The PM said the five-star hotel facility, which the SINPF has earmarked for the current SMI site, will include an international standard convention center.
He said this major development is poised to attract international visitors and drive tourism, apart from placing Solomon Islands on the map as a conferencing and meeting destination.
