AUSTRALIAN Prime Minister Tony Abbott has written to Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo expressing his condolences to the families of the victims of the recent flash floods in the country.
In the letter to Prime Minister Lilo, Mr Abott said as a close friend and partner, Australia always stands ready to help Solomon Islands in the aftermath of the natural disaster.
“I am pleased that Australia is providing $3 million in support to assist with immediate needs and Australia will also work closely with the Solomon Islands on the longer-term support.
The Australian Prime Minister said he is also pleased that Australia, through the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI) is assisting with additional safety and security needs during this time.
“Our thoughts and with the people of the Solomon Islands as you recover from this tradegy,” Mr Abott said in the letter written to Mr Lilo.
