A 24-YEAR-OLD man facing an incest charge is yet to confirm which lawyer from the Public Solicitor’s Office is representing him.
The man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of his elder sister, appeared on Thursday in the Honiara Magistrates Court for mention.
He confirmed in court that he now has a lawyer but could not remember his name.
Principal Magistrate Augustine Aulanga reminded the accused that it is important to always know and remember the name of any lawyer visiting him in custody in the future.
Public Prosecutor Maito’o Hauirae said he will check with the Public Solicitor’s office or the Correctional Service to confirm the name of the lawyer who visited the accused in custody.
Mr Aulanga then adjourned the matter to May 26.
The accused is ordered to confirm the name of his lawyer in court on that day.
He is facing two counts of incest, which he denied.
These were in relation to allegations in June last year at their home province.
The alleged victim was 30 years old at the time of the offending.
The matter has been transferred recently to Honiara after a court circuit in the province.
