A MAN whose case came before the court, Tuesday for trial in relation to an arson charge has been adjourned to this morning for him to reconsider his plea.
Sam Nasareno was about to stand trial for one count of arson before Chief Magistrate Emmanuel Kouhota but his lawyer however, sought an adjournment.
This is to give time for his client to reconsider his plea due to evidence that is overwhelming against him.
During the pre-trial conference on the case on a previous date, a Principal Magistrate has given directions for the accused to reconsider his plea.
But the accused however maintained his not guilty plea in which a trial date was fixed for yesterday.
In the event Nasareno maintained his not guilty plea, a trial will proceed but if he changed his plea, sentence submissions and mitigation will be made on his case.
Nasareno was accused of setting fire to his parents’ dwelling house at Guadalcanal on August 2013.
Prosecution alleged he burnt down his parents ‘house following some issues between the accused and his parents.
Public Solicitor’s lawyer Allan Tinoni represents Nasareno while Public Prosecutor Ishmael Kekou represents the State.
