Dear Editor – I want to thank the national government for the additional scholarship for SINU.
However, there are some concerns that I want to put across about the additional scholarships.
By looking at the scholarship it only provides tuition fees only.
This prompted me to raise concern.
My concern is about those students who do Bachelor ofr Teaching Secondary at SINU who in the additional scholarship, sadly to see that they only receive tuition fees which I think is not fair enough.
This is because by looking at those students who went to overseas institution to do Bachelor programmes, they are paid allowances.
That same allowance should also be accorded to students doing degree programme at SINU.
I think the Government should think heavily on students who do Bachelor program at SINU by providing boarding accommodation and allowances because it will cut the expenses for the Government to send students to do Bachelor program overseas but it’s still offered at SINU.
So I call on the Government to reconsider its decision on the additional scholarship condition and provide boarding accommodation and allowances for those students who do Bachelor’s programme at SINU.
This will encourage and motive students to do well in their studies.
The other thing is the Government provides additional scholarship, however by looking at the scholarship most students received are certificate programmes.
This made me wonder why the Government concentrates in certificate program while the Government does not cater to meet the condition for Bachelor programme.
By looking at other scholarships from donors such as Australia and NZ, they only sponsored students to do Bachelor programmes, not certificate so the Government should provide the same thing for the SIG scholarship.
Leave people to struggle for Bachelor program than Government providing scholarships.
