Permanent Secretary (PS) for the Ministry of Development Planning and Aid Coordination (MDPAC) Shadrach Fanega said the outstanding US$5million for the Undersea Cable project will be passed in next year’s budget.
He clarified this after revelation that the government is willing to shoulder the outstanding cost, which was late to include in the budget for this year.
The actual cost for new cables to be used in the project stands at US$10 million, but some development partners willing to fund the other half of this amount, thus left the Solomon government with US$5 million.
The PS said the funds for the project will be appropriated in year 2017 national budget depending on bids submitted by the responsible ministries.
