Papua New Guinea airline company, Air Niugini has opened a sales office in Honiara.
And the Papua New Guinea High Commissioner to Solomon Islands, Fred Yakasa has congratulated Air Niugini for deciding to open the Sales Office in Honiara.
He said it is important the airline sets up the Sales Office in Honiara because PNG is continuing to invest in Solomon Islands.
Mr Yakasa said the Air Niugini’s office will facilitate travelling between the two countries and unto other Pacific Island countries and also to the wider world.
He said the Air Niugini’s PNG-Solomon route is very important because it connects the United States of America and Europe through Fiji.
Mr Yakasa said the route must be marketed in the Asian countries as there are more Asians who have established businesses in PNG and Solomon Islands including tourism, as well as within the Pacific Island countries.
He said in terms of PNG’s foreign policy, “PNG Connect” people to people connect is the basis of all levels of trade business and cooperation, and as such, air transport is very vital in facilitating the connectivity.
