SOLOMON Airlines Thursday cancelled all flights – international and domestic – in and out of Honiara as the bad weather persists.
This was due to extensive flooding and associated debris on the run way and surrounding airport areas.
All domestic and international flights have been suspended until further notice, a spokesman said
The spokesman added the decision was made in the interest and safety of passengers as well as airline workers.
“It would be suicide to fly in such weather,” a spokesman said.
An international flight from Brisbane to Honiara on Thursday afternoon could not land due to the heavy rain that pounded Honiara the whole day.
The spokesman said flights would resume as soon as the weather improves.
