AN unexpected technical issue with the Solomon Airlines Dash-8 aircraft (H4-SOL) has disrupted the national carrier’s domestic schedule over the past days.
And this forced the airlines to express its regret over the inconveniences caused.
“We at Solomon Airlines deeply regret the inconvenience caused by the recent disruptions to our domestic schedule.
“This has been due to an unexpected technical issue with our Dash-8 aircraft (H4-SOL), our largest domestic aircraft.
“We understand how frustrating this can be and sincerely apologises for any inconvenience it has caused,” the airlines said in a statement.
The airline’s engineering team is working tirelessly to complete the necessary repairs and ensure the aircraft meets the highest safety standards before it returns to service.
“We are committed to keeping you informed and will provide updates as soon as we have a clearer timeline,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, the airlines three twin otters are stepping in to support the domestic operations.
The Airlines said, safety remains their top priority.
“With one aircraft temporarily removed from our domestic fleet, this causes a flow-on effect in our operations.
“We ask your patience, support and understanding and confirm that our team is working tirelessly to remedy the unexpected technical issues to the highest industry standards.
“Safety is first and foremost, and we ask your patience as we for the speedy resumption of our Dash-8 aircraft service.
“We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate this challenging situation,” the airlines said.
Solomon Airlines is also exploring options to provide additional support to the current single Dash-8 aircraft as part of our 2024 – 2028 Strategic Plan.
“Additionally, we are implementing automated email and SMS communications to provide quick notifications in case of schedule disruptions.
“We encourage you to provide your mobile numbers and email addresses when booking to ensure we can contact you easily.
“Thank you for your patience and understanding during this process. We remain committed to providing efficient, effective, reliable, and safe service to all our travelling passengers,” it said.
In the past days, Dash-8 was grounded over technical issues forcing many travellers to express their disapproval about the service.
