AS the new terminal at the Honiara International Airport sprung to life this week, Solomon Airlines is slowly relocating from the old terminal to the new terminal.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Gus Kraus, in an interview with Solomon Star, said all outward services operated by Solomon Airlines are now being processed at the new terminal after all the check-in procedures have been successfully tested and passed on Monday.
He said already, check-ins for all outbound passengers for Solomon Airlines (IE) and Air Niugini (PX) are processed at the new terminal.
Fiji Airway (FJ) is next to set up its IT equipment there.
Mr Kraus said the next to set up at the new terminal are the Airlines Operations Control Centre and Belama lounge. Belama is expected to be up and running by the end of this month.
“Next step will be our Operations Control Centre plus DOM change of terminals and Belama opening maybe planned by end of month.”
He added the terminal itself is not yet fully operational like the Government VIP lounge and Belama Lounge.
However, it is understood that work on relocating and setting up all other services at the new terminal to ensure the comfort and convenience of passengers are slowly being set up.
Following the opening of the new terminal last month, the Ministry of Communication and Aviation said all departures will be happening at the new terminal, whilst all arrivals will be at the old terminal.
