Aligegeo Provincial Secondary School (APSS) near Auki, Malaita Province has over the weekend staged a successful fundraising.
The fundraising, which was the first of its kind for the school to be hosted at the school compound was to raise funds towards the construction of a new school chapel.
Malaita Education Authority (MEA) Chief Education Officer Richard Housiho officially opened the program.
He also donated $2000 towards the school on behalf of the authority and $200 cash came as his own donation.
During the event plenty of activities were held such as the lucky card, games, singing competition by students, selling of foods and many more. The highlight of the event was the queen and king show on Friday night.
School Chaplin David William said its the school’s vision is to have a school Chapel adding that’s for the benefit of the school and its students.
“Our plan is to build a Chapel by 2015 and thats why we host this fundraising to source funds towards it,” he said.
He added that once the Chapel is complete it would benefit future students that would attend this school.
“I call on every parents and students to cooperate and work towards the construction of this new Chapel.”
The school has been without a chapel for 29 years.
