A man accused of obtaining $50,000 under false pretence from his girlfriend has been remanded in custody yesterday.
David Mali, 28, faces 12 counts of false pretence.
He was remanded in custody on Tuesday in the Honiara Magistrates’ Court and will appear again in court on July 25.
Prosecution alleged that between 1 June 2016 and 5 July 2017, the boyfriend allegedly obtained large sum of money under false pretence totally up to $50,000.
He allegedly took different amount of money from his girlfriend on which he would say is for a provincial tour, and on other times would say for their engagement or to build a house.
Having learnt that he never spent money on those things, the complainant reported the matter to the police.
Police Prosecutor Iete Tebakota made the remand application yesterday before Principal Magistrate Ricky Iomea who granted the application for remand.
Mali is yet to be legally represented.
