THE Government (SIG) will increase allowances of students studying at the University of South Pacific (Fiji) this year.
Solomon Islands National Training Unit (NTU) Director Clement Tito during a meeting with students this week assured students they are expecting an increase in their study allowances.
Mr Tito said that the increase will be around $300 to $400 FJD per semester, ontop of what the students normally received in past years.
“The increase in allowances is to alleviate the many financial problems faced by students every year.
“It may or may not solve all the financial problems depending on how students manage their money.
The revelation of the increase was welcoming news to many students who expressed gratitude with teh government but urged the government to ensure allowances are paid on time.
Meanwhile, charter one flight for the students is schedule for January 27.
