THE Malaita Provincial Youth Council has expressed its admiration for the business development initiatives undertaken by the youths of Ambu village in the Aoke-Langalanga Constituency of Malaita Province.
The Ambu youths recently launched a poultry project after several of their leaders participated in an online learning platform simulation supported by the Mala I Tolo organization and learned about entrepreneurship and other relevant courses.
This training inspired them to develop their business idea.
To support their venture, the Malaita Provincial Youth Council provided them with $2,000 to commence the poultry project.
In a statement, President of the Malaita Provincial Youth Council, Philip Subu expressed satisfaction with the impact of the Mala I Tolo initiatives in the province.
He commended the Ambu youth committee for their leadership, stating, “When young people engage in positive activities, they can break free from the grips of Kwaso and drugs. I wish we have more resources to engage even more youth in Malaita Province.”
This initiative marks a significant step in organized youth livelihood activities within the Ambu community.
The community, which has a fast growing youth population, faces numerous challenges from climate change, particularly vulnerability to rising sea-levels and king tides.
Engaging young people in climate-affected areas is crucial for strengthening their livelihood and empowering them to thrive against adversity.
The Ambu youth committee has successfully marketed its first batch of poultry products and is now preparing to trade its next batch of chickens next month.
Malaita Province Youth Desk Officer Francis Samo joined the Malaita Provincial Youth Council in congratulating the Ambu youth for taking the initiative to venture into business.
“Taking action is essential for success. Remember, success is not just about what you attract, but what you create,” Mr Samo stated.
