The Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Melanesia, the Most Rev. George Takeli, paid his first visit to the Diocese of Malaita on Saturday.
He was welcomed at Gwaunaru’u Airport by Malaitan Diocesan bishop, Right Rev. Sam Sahu.
The visit, Archbishop Takeli’s first visit to Malaita since his election in February this year, was to meet and encourage workers and clergies of the Malaita Diocese.
Shortly after his arrival, Archbishop Takeli visited the Church of Melanesia run Airahu Rural Rraining Centre as well as Fauabu clinic.
On Sunday the archbishop attended and conducted mass at the Fiu Cathedral, after which he gave a public talk.
Malaita Diocesan bishop, Right Rev. Sahu told the Sunday Star the visit was also part of the archbishop’s duty to his flocks.
Archbishop Takeli and his delegation will return to Honiara on Monday.
