FIJI SUN – Another woman has been appointed to a leading role at the Fiji Sun, publisher of the biggest newspapers in the Pacific Islands. It comes as the newspaper company invests in expanding its digital media presence.
Fiji Sun Publisher/CEO Peter Lomas confirmed that Rosi Doviverata has been named Managing Editor/Digital, in charge of all the newspaper’s upgraded and growing online operations.
She joins Managing Editor/Business Rachna Nath, West Editor Jyoti Pratibha, North Editor Shratika Naidu (currently studying in India) and Publications Editor Caroline Ratucadra as women in news leadership, underscoring Fiji Sun equal opportunity employment policies.
Doviverata had been coordinating the launch of the Fiji Sun’s new website (fijisun.com.fj), mobile apps, introducing interactive QR codes into the daily newspaper and developing social media channels, Lomas said.
Doviverata is a University of the South Pacific journalism graduate who was an editor on the former Fiji Daily Post back when it was in its heyday. She was recruited by the Fiji Sun as elections editor after returning from six years living in Japan while her husband played professional rugby there.
As part of her preparation for her new role she recently visited India, including the Fiji Sun’s development partners there Asia Media Design.
