The Australia & New Zealand Banking Group Ltd (ANZ) is the official banking partner of the Fiji International.
While signing the agreement at the ANZ House in Suva yesterday, ANZ CEO Pacific and Fiji Vishnu Mohan handed a cheque worth $115,000 to the general manager of the Fiji International Natalie Ritter.
As a silver sponsor of the tournament, ANZ will provide a range of banking services to the tournament as well as providing electronic banking services on site at the Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course during tournament week.
Mr Mohan said ANZ had a strong international sponsorship portfolio which also included the Australian Open (tennis), Shanghai Masters (tennis) and ANZ Championship (netball) among others.
“The inaugural Fiji International golf tournament presents a great opportunity to connect on a platform of great importance for the sustainability of tourism in Fiji and the region,” he said.
“We are very pleased to be the official banking partner, working closely with the tournament promoters, Fiji Government and other commercial sponsors towards a very successful tournament.
“This partnership also portrays ANZ’s commitment to Fiji and the international visibility that this event brings with it.”
Ritter, while thanking ANZ, said it was a fantastic addition to the tournament.
“The Fiji International is Fiji’s first international broadcast golf tournament which will provide ANZ and our other sponsors with exposure in more than 30 countries around the world.”
The inaugural Fiji International will have golfers such as Fiji’s former world number one Vijay Singh, major champion Nick Price and India’s number one player Anirban Lahiri competing.
The tournament will be played at Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course from August 14-17.
