To mark International Women’s Day, the staff members from ANZ Bank Gizo Branch visited Gizo Hospital to present small gifts, flowers, fruits and ‘get well posters’ to female patients and female hospital staffs.
The ANZ staff members along with their children spared their time over the weekend and took this initiative to visit female patients and hospital staffs and present gifts, food and flowers and also post ‘ANZ get well posters’ along the hospital premises.
The wards in the hospital visited include the female ward, isolation ward, maternity ward and the outpatient department respectively.
During the visit ANZ staff members also commended the female hospital staffs with flowers and gifts, for the job of nursing the sick back to health.
The small occasion but with a rather big impact emotionally on both female patients and hospital staffs, saw altogether smiles all around from happy faces and reassurance of the important roles of women. The presentation and the visit were highly praised by the patients and hospital staff despite health reasons or work matters at that time of significance for all women globally.
International Women’s Day (IWD) is marked on March 8 every year. In different regions the focus of the celebrations ranges from general celebration of respect, appreciation and love towards women to a celebration for women’s economic, political, and social achievements.
In other regions, however, the political and human rights theme designated by the United Nations runs strong, and political and social awareness of the struggles of women worldwide are brought out and examined in a hopeful manner.
The UN theme for International Women’s Day 2014 is “Equality for Women is Progress for all”. And ANZ Gizo Branch has joined in the appreciation and respect of women worldwide.
It all happened successfully for ANZ Gizo Branch through the ANZ Staff Foundation for funding this occasion. The gifts presented though are small, but the significance of making certain that the women know their roles are of great effect in today’s societies.
ANZ Bank Gizo staff Myrah Topo stressed the reason behind this visit: “We want to recognize the value of women in our world today with whatever background, whether at home, work or sick in hospital.”.
Bank manageress for ANZ Gizo Branch Vislyn Szetu further saluted women in all works of life. “ANZ Gizo Branch would like to give support to all women out there despite the challenging life faced today, to encourage all women to hold your heads up high,” she said.
ANZ Bank Gizo Branch would like to acknowledge nurses, drivers and security guards of Gizo hospital as well as ANZ Staff Foundation for funding this presentation.
