Arosi King advances to the grand final after defeating Anuta 2-1 in the first semi final of the Ward 5 under 20 championships in Arosi II, West Makira on Tuesday.
The second semi final will be between Oneita and BYC.
Winner of the two teams will takes on Arosi King in the grand final which is set to be a nail biting final.
For the past weeks Arosi II was the centre of football actions as 12 teams from the surrounding villages competed for top spot and prizes.
The teams were pooled into four pools however some team’s knockout on pool the games.
One of the biggest upset of the championship was when the defending champion Premas FC was thrown down by Anuta FC on the quarter final.
The championship was officially open by Charles Steneth who represents the guest of honour and MP for West Makira Derrick Manu’ari..
President of Makira Ulawa Football Association Tommy Mana said the tournament is part of the association’s development plan to build football at youth level.
He said it also goes along with the version of SIFF president which was to build youth football.
“As president this is the way forward to teach the basic of football at youth level,” Mr Mana said.
He said MUFA in its development plan had hosted an introduction coaching courses and basic referees for coaches and referees at the province.
He said this has made MUFA to be able to run its on competition without relying on referees and coaches from Honiara.
He said MUFA is proud to see some of the products such as Mathew Taro who now becomes the first FIFA referee badge holder.
