The Solomon Islands Outrigger & Canoe Federation is proud to announce the arrival of brand new state-of-the-art canoes, which will be used as training equipment for the national team in preparation for the upcoming Pacific games in November.
The canoes were acquired through a partnership between SI Outrigger & Canoe Federation and the Games Organizing Committee for Pacific Games, as well as through an equipment grant from the National Olympic Committee of Solomon Islands.
“We are excited to offer our athletes the best possible training and equipment to help them achieve their goals at the upcoming games,” said Eric Chow, President of SIOCF. “These top-of-the-line canoes are designed to meet the needs of elite athletes and will provide a significant competitive edge.”
Made from high-quality materials, the canoes are fast and maneuverable and will be used in both individual and team competitions. The federation will be running training sessions and workshops to equip athletes as they prepare for the upcoming games, and the canoes will undergo rigorous testing to ensure they meet all safety and performance standards.
“We are confident that these canoes will not only be a great addition to the games, but also to our nation,” said Chow. “We look forward to seeing our athletes showcase their skills and compete at the highest level.”
In addition to the Pacific games, the federation has planned local events for communities, corporate houses, tertiary organizations, and government ministries.
The federation will also be developing younger age groups and introducing Para-Va’a, as well as covering competitive clubs and recreation for wellness.
It aims to work closely with provincial associations to further drive the sport into the provinces and open up avenues for future selections for other regional and international events.
