The five Chinese nationals accused of stealing more than $90,000 from their employee last year will plea to the allegation against them on April 7.
The men have indicated in a written a letter which was read yesterday in court by an interpreter that they wanted to plea to the charge against them.
Guan Yonghua 31, Zhen Canbo 29, Xie Bowen 32, Zhou Juncheng 20 and Hu Jian Hui, 23, who hardly speak English or Pijin are jointly charged with one count of larceny and embezzlement.
In their letter, they told the court that they don’t have the money to pay for a private lawyer and that they have been in custody since November last year.
They also admitted the allegation and stated that the money was already handed over to their boss.
Public Solicitor’s Lawyer Clifton Ruele yesterday told the court he will represent all the accused.
Time was given for him so he can visit the accused and get instruction for plea.
Police alleged the accused stole more than $90,000 from the Low Price Enterprise while working as shop keepers, cashiers and handyman for the company between 1, Spetember 2015 and 9 November 2015.
Police searched their rooms at Tandai, and found some of the money in small boxes.
According to the allegation, all the accused except Hui, came into the country early last year.
