AN initial assessment response team from Kirakira will deployed today to west and east of Makira Ulawa province to conduct a damage assessment.
The assessment is basically to assist people after the devastation caused by cyclone Pam in the eastern part of the country.
Chairman of the disaster response team Peter Sitai said, the team’s visit is purposely to tour around the province to see schools, food gardens, bridges, clinics and casualties.
Mr Sitai said, the assessment is expected to be completed in a week.
He added that after assessment all reports will be compiled and submitted to National Disaster Management Office (NDMO).
“If any parts of the province needs urgent supplies then NDMO will support them.”
Meanwhile Mr Sitai appeals to public to respect the team whenever they visit their villages.
