ATHLETES are strongly urged to be serious and follow COVID-19 safety measures during the current COVID-19 outbreak the country is facing.
The call was made by the National Olympics Committee of Solomon Islands (NOCSI) president, Martin Rara.
Rara said health plays a very important role in athletes’ sports careers.
“I call on all sports athletes to be serious about their health and follow all COVID-19 protocols during this COVID-19 outbreak experienced in our country.
“Health as we all know plays a vital role in your sports careers so you must look after yourselves and your families.
“We can all work together against COVID-19,”he said.
Despite the lockdown, some athletes are putting in efforts in maintaining their fitness by doing their own training.
A good number of athletes especially those in Honiara do not have a private venue to do trainings during the lockdown.
