THE national athletes that took part in the 2017 Oceania Athletics Championship in Fiji last week were asked to have a good rest to recover well before hitting the field again for training sessions.
Athletes coach Francis Manioru urged the athletes to have a good transition after coming back from the competition in Fiji early this week.
“To all athletes attending the 2017 Oceania Athletics Championship, this week is Transition week,’’ he said.
“Please do not do any trainings yet, your body needs to recover well before start training again,’’ he added.
Team Solomon won three medals in the 2017 Oceania Athletics Championship held in Fiji.
The medals were won by Patrick Kam, Sharon Firisua and Diana Matekali.
National long distance queen Sharon Firisua won two medals, a gold medal in the 10,000m and a bronze in the Women 5000m senior finals, finishing behind Hannah Miller of New Zealand and Audrey Hall of Australia.
Finishing second behind Sharon is Dianah Matekali, another Solomon Islander.
In the men’s category Patrick Kam won silver in the men’s 5000m race and silver in the men’s 10000m race.
