ATHLETICS track event athletes were awarded their medals after finishing their track event competitions at the King George Sixth School running track yesterday.
Calvin Hou of Isabel won the men’s 100m final while Javita Ambrose of Malaita won the women’s 100m finals of the Solomon Games at KVGI training track yesterday.
Hou finished with a personal best time of 10.79 to snatch the gold medal, while John Arata of Malaita finished second with a time of 10.81 to receive the silver medal.
David Mauri of Isabel won the bronze medal for finishing third, clocking 10.85.
In the women’s category, Jovita Ambrose snatched the gold medal with a personal best time of 12.78 while runner up Hilda Keono of Makira won the silver medal with a time of 13.50. Eslie Laisa of Isabel finished third with time of 13.52 and won the bronze medal.
In the 800m finals, Stephen Rahuasi of Malaita won the gold medal with his personal best time of 1.58.56 while Leeroy of Alulu of Isabel settled for the silver with a time of 1.59.58 and Simon Biru of Guadalcanal won the bronze medal with a time of 2.01.13.
For the long distance, Martin Faeni of Isabel finished with a personal best time of 16.19.21 to snatch the gold medal, while DyJay Junior of Western finished second with 16.20.81 to receive the silver and Leon Pusua of Guadalcanal settled in third with 17.06.53 for the bronze.
In the women’s category, Dianah Matekali of Malaita remained unbeaten and won the gold with a time of 17.12.45 while her runner up, Linda Ke’o of Makira, finished with a time of 18.37.66 to get the silver.
Joycelyn Tuzua of Central managed to register herself for a bronze with a time of 19.17.50.
