THE Seventh-Day Adventist Church in the Eastern Region of Malaita Province will host the first ever ‘Mini Camporee’ for pathfinders, youths and adventurers.
The mini camporee will be held at the Atoifi Heights Campsite, East Kwaio from 17 to 22 September under the timely theme “I will go and shine to others,”
Mini Camporee Coordinator Harry Samuel confirmed this to Solomon Star in an interview on Thursday.
“This is the first of its kind mini camporee to be hosted in the eastern part of Malaita Province,” he said.
He said preparation is underway and on track for the opening ceremony on Tuesday 17 September.
“Preparation is underway at the campsite site, the bad weather earlier this week delayed some of our preparations. However, we prayed about and it and thank God, we have good weather now to complete all the preparation work before the opening ceremony of the mini-camporee next week,” Mr Samuel said.
Mr Samuel said the program is separated in three parts- morning, afternoon and evening.
He said the morning session is set aside for awareness talks on home management, educational, health, pathfinder, youth and adventures, the afternoon for activities and games and the evening for worship.
Mr Samuel said doctors, nurses, educationists and other guests will also do training from 8am to 12pm daily.
He said Cambridge Solomon Islands and Solomon Islands National University Distance Flexible Learning (DFL) will also conduct awareness talks.
Mr Samual said, SINU DFL will extend its branch campus to East Kwai’io in the future.
More than 500 pathfinders, youths and adventurers from East Fataleka, East Kwara’ae, East Kwaio and East Are’Are will attend this event.
All participants in the mini camporee will arrive at the Atoifi Adventist College for the event next Monday.
