The Malaita for Democracy (M4D) President, Knoxley Atu has accused the Member of Parliament (MP) for Fataleka Rex Ramofaia for lying to his constituency claiming that there is no SCALE project for the province.
Mr Atu who toured with the Winrock awareness in East Malaita lately said his own villagers exposed the MPs lies during the awareness at Subobono community.
“Villagers at Subobono village in East Fataleka constituency have come out and stated that their MP, Rex Ramofaia has been telling them that the USAID SCALE is not happening anymore or has been cancelled,” he said.
“The revelation of his lying behaviour came out during a SCALE-NRM awareness tour in East Malaita this past week,” he said.
“Villagers voiced out that they were very shocked to see Dr Morgan Wairiu and the big team from Winrock touring because their MP had just told them that there was no more USAID SCALE.”
Atu said the villagers were overjoyed to see the team and were very happy to hear the programming work plan shared by the team.
“They said that now they see the team they know who is telling the truth.”
“We know and have seen a pattern for some MPs if they do not see any financial benefits to them from the project,” he added.
“They would not give as much support as they would if they see benefits coming directly at them,” the M4D president who is also from the MPs constituency said.
“This may be the reason why Ramofafia was not supportive of the SCALE program,” he said.
