Police at Auki have arrested a wanted male suspect in relation to the BSP Bank armed robbery incident earlier this year.
The suspect was reported to have been nabbed while drinking alcohol with friends at Faurere village, North Malaita by members of the RSIPF special Unit task force on the early part of Saturday 12 March morning.
The suspect, who is in his 20’s, has been detained and brought over to Honiara on the same day and is currently remanded in police custody on further investigations.
Following the arrest, the Malaita Provincial Police Commander, Alfred Uiga expressed his appreciation for the cooperation and assistance given by the local community to the police in support of a crime free community.
“I wish to applaud members of the public especially at Faufanea village, North Malaita for working together with Auki Police to that led to the successful apprehension of the wanted bank robbery suspect early Sunday (13/03/16) morning.”
“On the same note, I would also like to congratulate police at Auki and Malu’u for the successful arrest of this high profile offender, who is believed to have committed numerous serious crimes over the past and has been on the run for the last couple of months, evading attempts made by police for his arrest.”
