THE Anglican Church of Melanesia (COM) in Auki yesterday kicked off its positive parents training.
The two-week training is aimed at better educating and equipping couples, parents (most importantly wives), the family and parenting leadership rules required in their respective communities.
Speaking to this paper, training facilitators; Mary Fungi and Rose Sau said that this is the first of such trainings has been upgraded in the provincial capital.
“Such trainings are very much important especially for newlyweds and every other couples, giving them the opportunity to learn more about their roles and responsibilities as parents or parents to be, helping them raising their families.
“It also empowers and enlightens women especially on leadership roles which they can embrace and be part of decision makings in their communities at a smaller scale or the nation at a relatively larger scale,” Ms Fungi said.
Similar trainings have been held by the Church in 2008 in the Keava region of Central Kwara’ae.
