FIRST five people who have tested positive of covid-19 in Auki, Malaita Province are put on self-isolation at home.
This is after five covid-19 swab tests at Kilu’ufi Hospital sent to Honiara Friday last week, came back positive.
Malaita Provincial Health Director, Dr Rex Maukera confirmed this to Solomon Star Auki yesterday.
Asked why these five are not brought to Kilu’ufi Isolation Ward, Dr Maukera said their statuses are not severe at this stage.
“Only severe cases will be brought to the Isolation Ward.
“Whilst the five positive patients are on self-isolation at home, health workers are closely monitoring their situation.”
With that, the Provincial Health Director said the task now is to trace those who came into close contact with them to undergo covid-19 swabbing tests to determine their covid status.
It is revealed that further eight covid-19 swab test samples were sent to Honiara over the weekend.
