MEMBERS of the Sunday School in Auki Catholic Parish successfully commemorated the St. Charles Boromeo day over the weekend at Fasitoro Cathedral in Auki, Malaita.
The celebration brought together nearly a hundred children from various Sunday schools, including Sasale, Fasitoro, Lilisiana/Molou, Auki Island, New Kaloka, Oibola, and Rade communities.
Activities included a Sunday School quiz and open sports, allowing the children to enjoy themselves while expressing their Christian faith.
The Sunday Mass liturgy choir was led by the seminarians.
St. Charles Borromeo is the patron Saint of Bishops, Cardinals, seminarians, and spiritual leaders.
Recognized as the “loving reformer,” he dedicated himself to ensuring that all people felt the Church’s care and compassion.
His reforms included the transformed the Church’s organization, fostering a greater responsiveness to the needs of all, not just the wealthy and powerful.
During the Sunday Mass, Auki Catholic Diocese Administrator Fr. Jeffery Puritau encouraged the children to pray consistently.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong connection with God, stating that prayer can help overcome life’s challenges.
Fr. Puritau also reminded parents of their role in nurturing their children’s Christian faith, urging them to bring their kids to church and teach them the importance of daily prayer.
He noted that parental guidance is crucial in shaping children into good individuals.
Auki Parish Sunday School Coordinator Florence expressed her gratitude to all Sunday School teachers and parents for their support of the parish’s Sunday School ministry.
She highlighted that the successful commemoration of St Charles Boromeo reflects the ongoing support from parents and the parish council, reinforcing the importance of nurturing the Christian faith in children.
