Eight communities from Auki Parish in Malaita Province came together to celebrate the Easter Triduum at Fataro Cathedral, marking a deeply spiritual and unifying occasion for local Catholics.
The participating communities—Sasale, Bethany, Fasitoro, Lilisiana, Auki Islands, Niukaloka, Oibola, and Rade—engaged in a four-day celebration, beginning on Holy Thursday and concluding on Easter Sunday. Each day of the Triduum was led by different communities in a demonstration of shared faith and collaboration.
Holy Thursday’s mass was led by Rade and Oibola, while Lilisiana and Auki Islands presented a moving Stations of the Cross drama on Good Friday. Fasitoro took charge of the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday, and Niukaloka concluded the Triduum with Easter Sunday’s joyful service.
The event fostered unity, reflection, and renewal among parishioners as they commemorated the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ—the heart of the Christian faith.
Fabiano Ngengemani, Head Catechist of Auki Parish, shared his reflections on the significance of the event.
“This Easter celebration has brought our parish members together like one big family,” he said.

“It’s a powerful demonstration of how our faith continues to grow as we serve both the Church and our communities through the life and teachings of Christ.”
He emphasized that the event not only strengthened faith but also encouraged believers to live out Christian values in their everyday lives.
“We shared the experience, witnessed baptisms, and celebrated First Holy Communion as one church. It truly brought our communities together,” Mr. Ngengemani added.
Chairman of Fataro Cathedral, Peter Tofuala, expressed gratitude to all the communities, from Sasale to Rade, for their participation and support.
“This four-day celebration truly reflected the unity and strong collaboration within our parish,” he said.
“It shows our continuous commitment to strengthening the faith of our Church in each community.”
The communities will gather again for the next major celebration in Fasitoro on Pentecost Day.
