Officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Auki have called-off the search for an elderly man who went missing at sea in the Langa Langa Lagoon early last week.
The man from the Abu community who was believed to be in his 60s failed to return home after a fishing trip.
His failure to return home has triggered relatives to seek help from Auki police to assist them with a search.
However, after conducting the search for three consecutive days, the search party have failed to locate the man.
Information reaching this paper claimed that the canoe the fisherman was using when he went missing was recovered half sank, on the reef near Auki Island.
Auki Police early last week issued a call for coastal communities in the Aoke Langa Langa electorate to look out for the missing person and inform police of any sighting of the missing man.
To this day, there has not been a sighting of the missing man.
