POLICE in Auki Malaita are practically handicapped this festive session due to lack of fuel and less logistic support.
RSIPF in Auki has run out of fuel since November this year and has been obtaining fuel on credit basis to keep its logistic support running.
To make matters worse, fuel depots that police usually obtained fuel on credit bases to keep its logistic support operate have recently issued a stop notice to police not to take fuel on credit.
When Solomon Star Auki visited Auki Police station to get confirmation on this matter, Operational Commander Michael Ramosaea confirmed the story to be true.
He said Auki Police have now faced two issues; lack of fuel and less logistic support.
“Our fuel has run out since November,” he said.
“We expected new fuel to arrive before December, but that did not happen, which forced us to take fuel from other fuel depots in Auki on credit bases to keep us going.
“This is a massive hindrance to our festive session operation as we did not attend calls coming from other parts of the province due to lack of fuel.
“Fuel is not the only issue here, we also have logistic issues with only two police vehicles out of a total four vehicles operating,” he said.
Inspector Ramosaea said the delay in delivery of fuel came at the wrong time he called on the responsible authority to deliver fuel to Auki as soon as possible to help police work in Auki and Malaita as a whole this festive session.
