Auki Police as of last week have commenced its police festive season operation with few arrests and warnings.
The operation targeted kwaso (homebrew), illegal gambling, and provided high-visibility patrols in the Auki township area.
During the operation, kwaso raids have been conducted at Kilufii, Kwalabusu, Ararame, Fiu, Aimela, and Teak areas.
According to Commissioner Mr. Mostyn Mangau, the operation resulted in the arrest and charging of three suspects and the strong warning and release of seven others.
Commissioner Mangau said of the three suspects, a suspect has been arrested for consuming liquor in a public place, another for possessing kwaso distillation, and arrested for liquor for sale without license and a traffic case.
Mr. Mangau said a good number of marijuana plants were uprooted at Fiu village also during the police operation.
“The community leaders were really happy about the police operation and appreciated the police action to remove the kwaso and marijuana from their communities,” said Mangau.
The police chief said to work with your police to remove unwanted activities in our communities before this Christmas season. The operation will continue till Christmas and the new year 2025.
