THE much anticipated Auki premier league second season has kicked off on Saturday with two matches played at Aligegeo football stadium.
The first half of the match saw Aimela FC receiving their first smile after defeating Ambu FC 3-1.
The win made a difference for Aimela FC compared to first season when they suffered heavy defeats from its opponent including Ambu FC.
Aimela FC boosted with experiences of former Malaita Kingz defender John Kusulifu, Malaita Eagle’s midfielder Frank Kabui, Lynton Filualea, Henry Dau, Paul Kali and the former Koloale left flanker Presley Futa.
Aimela FC took the lead 3 minutes in the first half of the game following a solo move made flanker joseph Kwaila to open their score sheet 1-0.
Three minutes later Aimela right flanker Junior Sinri made a solo run from the right and scored Aimela second goal from eight minutes of play.
Towards the end of first half Junior Sinri added the second goal for Aimela to lead the first half match with 2-0.
Ambu FC came back strongly in the second leg to register a goal through a penalty kick awarded.
The match saw Ambu FC has a lot of scoring opportunities but was denied by Aimela defenders.
The second match, Fiu FC stunned their arch rival Namo FC with 6-2 win.
This means Fiu FC and Aimela FC are the first two teams to register their first 3 points win on the record.
Aimela FC coach and former Malaita Eagle flanker Charles Irobina was happy to see his boys performing satisfactory.
He said his boys played a very intensive game against mighty Ambu.
He said his team will try to maintain such game and continue to prepare for future matches this month.
“I like to thank my boys for the trust and commitment rendered to come up with this good result,” Irobina said.
Thursday matches, new comer Medix FC will take on the Mighty GB United FC from Gwaunao at 3pm at Aligegeo in Auki.
