Residents in and around Auki town, Malaita province were excited to finally receive rain water on Tuesday morning, after many weeks without rain..
The rainfall lasted more than 5 hours much to the relief of the residents who depends on rain water for drinking.
Speaking to this paper in Auki a resident John Tua said, many water tanks and wells have ran out of water and its good to have the rain back to fill up them up.
“We want to thank God for giving us this rain fall today to full up our water tanks and wells.
“My family usually faces difficulty to carry water for drinking and swimming from Kwaibala and Kwainamoro during the fine weather seasons.”
He said, the rain also reduces dust along the road in the township.
He added lack of rain had also affected many food gardens.
In Honiara some parts of the city experienced rain.
