Auki tar sealing project will start in a fortnight, Monday 21st of this month.
This was confirmed by Malaita premier Peter Channel Ramohia, Thursday morning saying that Dalgro Company was undertaking the project.
He said, despite his objection for the company to work on the road improvement project in Auki, the Ministry of Infrastructure ((MID) had told him that Dalgro’s offer was much cheaper than other companies.
“This is because Dalgro is fully equipped with sets of machineries including ship to transport its machineries to the province.
“This was some of the reasons that the MID and the Government select Dalgro company.
“We cannot say anything because thats according to the process of the Government and the Ministry.”
The premier said, his government expects the company to provide good quality road work.
“The engineer must be independent and not from MID. Often times engineers from MID are not honest to their job to check either the contractor and the road at the end of the day.”
