A number of shops in Auki lost significant amount of goods after their premises were flooded on Friday.
A blocked drainage was blamed for the flooding following a heavy downpour overnight.
Shop owners spoken too were furious at their loss.
“This is unacceptable,” one shop owner said.
“Look at how much we lost here,” he added.
“Someone is not doing their job this is why we have the drain blocked, resulting in the flooding of our shops.”
Workers of Dalgro, the construction firm currently tar-sealing Auki road, were called to assist drain the water.
According to one Dalgro worker, the flooding was a result of an old drain that was blocked by debris and other dirt.
