TWO businesses that recently opened in Auki, Malaita Province were issued notices to close down after they were found to be operating without business licences.
The two businesses are IP Store and LG Store.
According to letters issued to the businesses’ owners from the acting provincial premier Randol Sifoni, these businesses are operating without a business licence.
“I have been informed that you are operating a business in Auki, Malaita Province without a business licence or properly authorised licence to operate in Malaita Province.
“Therefore your business is one…that has been identified to have been in breach of the Business Licence Ordinance of the Malaita Provincial Government,” Mr. Sifoni stated in his letter to the business owners of IP Store and LG Store.
He then ordered the owners to close down these businesses with immediate effect.
This latest discovery of illegal business operations in Auki have raised questions of who is behind this.
Sources with the provincial government claimed that the latest illegal business operations in Auki could have been linked to some senior officers within the MPG administration.
It is believed that there could be two more businesses that are still operating illegally in Auki which the Malaita Provincial Government is yet to shed light into.
